Does anyone know where I can place a free ad for plumbing supplies for sale?
I am trying to find a site that I can place Plumbing Supplies for sale. I'm not a supply company, these are supplies that are from a company that had closed down and we are trying to sell them. Does anyone know where I could list them for free besides, www.craigslist.com??
Is it possible for water to freeze in inside house plumbing if the house temperature is 50 deg. or above?
We're going on a winter vacation and I want to turn our house thermostat down to around 55 deg. (in Michigan) However, I've had people tell us we risk having our water pipes freeze at that level of inside air temperature. This doesn't make sense to me, and the people can't explain how the freezing would take place, only that they've heard of this happening.

sometimes when i am taking a shower, the watercloset (toilet) bubbles a few times. Is this a bad sign, what could be causing this? sewer is fine I check it everyday. if anything is going to stop up its a pipe inside the house. i check the sewage syst everyday cause its an old house built in 1980 and im kinda ocd about the sewage malfunctioning. How can we access plumbing in floor if we tile the floor?
We have a house that was built in 1900s and a bedroom was made into the bathroom. The plumbing is in the floor. Plywood was screwed around the plumbing as an access door and then carpet was placed over it - of course the carpet got moldy after many, many years. Now we want to place ceramic tile in the bathroom - how can we still get access to the plumbing easily if something goes wrong and there is tile there? I want to think you can do a tile an access panel that can be removable but would it leak if it got wet? Help!

Can anyone help me with a perplexing bathroom plumbing leak.?
This is about a new construction single family home with three bathrooms. Some 10 minutes or so after the upstairs shower is used, the other two bathrooms each leak about a cup of watter - one out of the baththb spout and the other out of the shower head. This is with all valves closed! All my plumber could say was, "I don't know what to tell you".

Im trying to decide which one of these programs i would like to join. I'm kinda leaning towards an electrician apprenticeship because i like to wire things, however im not ruling out a plumber apprenticeship. Which field is more in demand? Which field has more people applying for apprenticeships? ( is it harder to get into an apprenticeship of one compared to the other? ) Is the pay similar, or is one higher wage than the other? Which one works a more regular schedule? Which one offers a lot of side job opportunities, such as work for friends and stuff outside work? Is the job outlook for either one better than the other? If sewer plumbing & heating broke and busted pipes due to frozen lines. Will home owners insurance cover i?
My Mom owns two trailer size homes twenty feet from each other side by side on the same property and are connected by the same sewer line. Due to the cold winters here, the pipes, even though insulated, froze and busted. Also the heat. In a month both homes will become unlivable if the sewer and heat aren't fixed. Will home owners insurance cover it?

Plumbing advice- White deposits forming on faucet screens?
I have white deposits that form, I think it is mostly from my hot water line, they are soft, opaque white crystals that eventually block the faucet screens, they are easily washed out when I take out the screen, and they have a soft soapy feel to them. Can I start a plumbing apprenticeship from scratch in the UK if I am 24? (I am British)?
I want to train as a plumber in the UK via an apprenticeship but am unsure whether my age is likely to be a problem as I am 24. Also, I wondered whether (assuming I can do an apprenticeship) I would need to start at NVQ 2, or if my 8 GCSE's grade A-C would allow me to start at NVQ 3. I have no plumbing experience whatsoever but have been receiving mixed answers to this question. Thanks for your help in advance guys!

Is it legal for an apartment management company to place a furnace inside of a sealed wall?
We live in Brooklyn, NY and we don't have any access to our furnace. Our neighbors across the hall said they cut open a piece of their wall and the furnace was sealed behind it. Her father works in plumbing and heating and he said it's illegal to to that. We have no way of changing the filter or relighting the pilot if it goes out. In my previous post I described how I've messed with my current CH & HW system to make it fully pumped (S plan). I think I've messed up a perfectly good system but it is totally undo-able. What I need to know is from the following information would the old system have worked successfully so I had HW only when I needed it, CH only when I needed it, and or both. You have confirmed what I thought last night. It isn't normal to have the valves on the return though is it? But I presume it's safe to do so because the previous owners must have been runnning this system for at least 17 years and maybe the owners before them. I think you're right about the build up of air as well. There does seem to be a lot of noise generated in a couple of rads and I'm always bleeding them (although this is with my current layout!). Can I fix this easily? I am right in thinking that not all boilers need a pump overrun though do they. My boiler is a Glow-worm Space Saver 50. I can't find any info on this at all. Again, it never had a pump overrun so I presume it's safe to run without. (I know I'm doing a lot of presuming!) Is it an easy/cheap job to scrap the header tank and pressurise the system? Is it a job for the pros or can I attempt it myself. (I have no problem paying for experts - I just enjoy a challenge!)

Is this normal business practice or is this someone whom is just trying to get to you for a few extra bucks? I recently hired a plumbing company to come out to my house and do a pressure check on my natural gas lines. Do they normally charge for drive time and then charge for fuel on top of that? Just curious, not that I mind paying for there gasoline out here because I know how much fuel prices are these days. But he began his hourly billing from what he considered to be his dispatch time which included the time it took him to drive here and the time he spent in my driveway on the phone with a previous customer. Trying to plumb a new insulated garbage disposal. I'm stumped by a problem. The height of the sewer drain in the wall is 13" from the deck of the cabinet. The discharge on the disposal is 13.5" from the deck. How much lower does the sewer drain have to be in order to accommodate for the p-trap? Can I use this disposal or will I have to try to find one that will sit higher up? Any help anyone can provide would be great.

I went to a Ferguson location but the guy refused to help me out finding the part I needed. He was trying to sell me on hiring his friend as a plumber and it was a monumental waste of my time. I guess I'll look up other plumbing supply stores.

How to work on plumbing and electrical in a non basement house ?
I am a pretty good DIY plumber and an okay DIY electrician. However, in every home where I had to do the work always had a basement or crawl space. I am getting ready to buy a house without either and my question is: How do you access the plumbing and electrical if you can't get to it from the basement. I know it's in the walls and I will probably have to cut sheet rock to get to it. But I guess what I'm really asking is how do you detect where the exact problem is? Whether it be a leaky pipe or running an extra outlet. I guess I will have to access wiring from the attic but still not sure about plumbing. Thanks.
How do you prevent plumbing clogs while saving energy and water?
I am trying to do my part to save water and energy by using cold water whenever I can for laundry, washing dishes and hands, etc. I also try to prevent wasting water by not letting the sink and bathtub run, and have installed a tankless water heater for near instant hot water. The problem is that my plumbing frequently backs up due to buildup of soap/shampoo/laundry detergent/dishwashing detergent. I've read that flushing the plumbing once a month with large volumes of hot water will help prevent/treat this problem, but that goes against my principles of trying to save energy and water. Does anyone have good ideas for preventing plumbing clogs from soap/detergent buildup, without wasting a lot of energy or water?

Is $7,121.16 a reasonable price for replacing a bathroom floor with ceramic tile & replacing the tub & toilet?
Demolition is to start tomorrow & will last 2 days. Everything in the bathroom will be removed & hauled to the dump by the contractor. The sink and fixtures for the tub, shower & sink are the only things which won't be replaced. The price includes reinstallation, replacing copper lines & joists, painting walls & ceiling. Greenboard is to be used behind the tub & Hardiboard thinset to subfloor & screwed to subfloor. The entire job will last two weeks. Barbara, the tub will be cast iron. Unfortunately, there aren't alot of people who do vinyl floors (which is what we were going with originally). We searched for several months before finding his one.We got estimates for both vinyl and ceramic tile. There was only $100 difference. So we went with the ceramic tile. The contractor has been in busiess for over 20 years and is licensed, bonded & insured.
Why are bugs coming out of my faucet?
I've noticed in the the last week or so when I turn on my bathroom faucet, little winged bugs come out with the water. They are about the size of gnats and they're dead. Whenever I turn on the water the initial burst of water will also shoot out around 6-8 of these bugs. It's pretty gross. What can I do? the bugs are also show up in the toilet immediately after flushing, they seem to come from the new water flowing into the toilet.

What do to about a clogged dishwasher drain?
Our dishwasher has been leaving what looks like bits of paper in the bottom of our plastic cups and sometimes other dishes for a couple months now. We think the drain may be clogged, but we don't know how to unclog it. (Can't use liquid plumber because that would put toxic chemicals on our dishes.) We've been careful to remove the labels from anything we put in.

Toilet Cistern question to all plumbers?
We have just moved house and the toilet and sink match, however the cistern doesnt so we are looking to replace it. The sink and toilet are a bit like the shell effect pot ones you can get, the toilet seat itself has one flower (raised slightly) and they are both in an ivory/cream colour We are struggling to find a cistern to match and wondered if they had a particular name/brand. How do I fix a leaky washerless faucet?
My bathtub has a faucet that leaks. I took the knob off to find out it has no washer. I read that there is something called a seat grinder. Would that work or is there another way to fix it without replacing it? The brandname name is only on the drainplug switch not the faucet and it says Gerber.

The toilet seems to have this metal piece at the bottom. When I press it the toilet stops running. How do I repair or replace a drain pipe that goes under our cement foundation?
The damaged portion is about 3 feet straight down at the 90 degree joint on the back of our house on our kitchen sink drain. The line then continues to run under the house connecting the main line somewhere along the way. Roto Rooter's clean out went straight into the dirt and never made the turn and then came back out full of sand and spoiled/stagnet gray/black water. Is it possible to dig down and slightly under the foundation for this type of repair? Thanks so much.

My toilet will not flush right. You have to hold the handle ALL the way down and KEEP it down in order to flush it and even then sometimes "everything" won't always flush. My plumber thinks I need a new toilet. . My husband thinks its in the plumbing and piping itself and not the toilet. That if we do get another one, it will do the same thing. So, I'd like to know what you think. Is it in the plumbing and pipes? Or is it the toilet itself?

Plumbers Help! Black slime & stench in toilet tank?
We have well water and a public sewer. We have had no problems for a year here and just use Iron Out tabs in the tank. All of a sudden the toilet tank reeks of a horrible odor and has some black slime in it. Is this a worn seal, valve problem or water problem? We are in an apt. complex. The other toilet is not causing problems. I might add in the bathroom in Question - we have a shower stall that is never used. Does this matter? TY for your input.

How can I get my dishwasher to drain completely?
I can't afford to get a new one. This one still works and cleans the dishes but, the water will not completely drain and it sits in the bottom and keeps the dishes from drying. Is there anything I can do?
Turning the water off in the bath/shower?
I know how to turn off the water to the house....but is there normally a shutoff valve in the wall behind the tile, to turn the water off to just the tub/shower ? I know there is a shutoff valve on the bathroom sink, because I can see it and I have used it before, but don't know what is behind the wall of the tub until I tear into it. Should I expect a shutoff valve or not?This house was built in the 70's and we have found a lot of strange things they did back then. I am remodeling the bathroom, so I will be tearing the tile off the wall. So it does not matter is I have to tear up the wall.

How do I know when my sump pump is goin bad? My toilet gurgled on me this AM and I not sure what that means.?
I was sitting on the toilet this morning, and all of a sudden It goes glump glump glump, and I look down to my dismay, and their was no water, it gurgled it up, but than it released it, and i flushed, and it worked. But than, standing near the sink, glump glump glump again, it sucked some more water up and released. Any thoughts what that is, is that a sump pump? Or just bad plumbing ?
