I got this annoying sink at my place which keeps getting clogged. Today I used a common drain opener and apparently it melted a hole in a part of the plumbing which is made of plastic (would have been nice to know that before I used the drain opener). Moving furnace and water heater for basement remodel?

We are thinking about moving our gas furnace and gas water heater to make the basement remodel more sensible. When they built our house, they were definitely not thinking and the floorplan is very tight. Approximately how much would it be to do such a thing? Is it possible to create a new drain hole in the basement as well? We would want to move that too since it would be in the middle of the room = not ideal.

What are sure signs of leach line failure in a septic system?

I think my leach lines are failing but I am not sure. Toilets have backup in both bathrooms and it seems that there is some ground pooling just downhill from where the septic tank is buried and we have been dying for rain here in Southern California. The septic was pumped in May of 2004 to get a septic cert. while we were in escrow to purchase the property. It's a 750 gallon tank and it was my understanding that they should be pumped every 5 years. Should the pumping of the septic be more often such as every other year? The pumper is coming out today 9/11/ 07. I will post the findings here once they have accessed the problem. Thank you everyone for your input. All the answers are very good.

Why do my water pipes sound like a motorboat?

When we turn the water on in our house, hot or cold, the pipes in the basement sound like a motorboat. This continues for as long as the water is running. I've been told it's one of the valves in the toilet but I shut both vales off with no change. If a faucet is open and the noise is continuing, it sometimes stops if another valve is turned on. What is this weird sensation after root canal?

Had a small abscess, had it drained and cleaned and a temporary root filling , still had pain on biting so then took a course of erythromycin. Pain is now gone but the tooth feels full like it has a rigid post stuck up it and the gum around the top has a weird pressure sensation right up to the top of my cheek bone..there is no swelling to be seen,can feel it when I smile or talk, it is not painful though. Any suggestions for my mother's 1995 Toyota Corolla that has been chugging and sometimes shutting off?

Since my mother took her 1995 Toyota Corolla in for its usual 3000 mile oil change it has been chugging & sputtering when she drives it at very infrequent times. The garage she takes it to is well-respected & trusted. Her car ran fine ever since she had it and she always kept up on her regular maintenance. She picked it up from the garage last night after they thought they fixed it and it started acting up again on her way to work this morning. They drained & cleaned the fuel tank. She says it sounds like it isn't getting enough gas but the garage ran all their tests and could find no diagnostics. They even had a mechanic who worked for Toyota drive it home & it stalled on him. He could not figure out what was wrong with it either. The owner of the garage said he hates to think it may be the fuel pump but wouldn't that show up when they ran their tests? You can see I don't know much about cars. Other than trading hers in and buying her a new/used car does anyone have any remote ideas?

Around the hole are gravel. The gravel is to filter the water or basically keep the mud from clogging up the holes. The housing feels up and a float gouse up causing the pump to kick on and pumps water out to where you want it to go. This happens over and over until all the water is out of the crawl space or bacement. You want to place the sump pump in the lowest point in the crawl space. If there are scattered puddles throughout the crawl a French Drain will need to be installed to get the water to the sump pump. A sump pump is a good and easy way to get water out of a the crawl space and basement. Every situation is different though and a sump pump may not be the way to fix all moisture in the crawl space. Installing a Recirculation Pump for instant hot water and saving water

Save over 10000 gallons a year (the manufacturer claims up to 17000) by installing a hot water Recirculation Pump. This pump makes hot water more quickly available everywhere in the home, thereby reducing the wait for hot water (and thus the savings by not letting all that cold and warm water go down the drain). As an added benefit, not only is the hot water there quicker, it is hotter as well! This is because the pipes will have been pre-heated by recirculated hot water. I'm installing this one under a bathroom sink, at the point farthest from the water heater. This is the best location. Depending on the actual plumbing configuration at your installation site (ie, the distance from the other fixtures from the main water line) , there may be a small delay for hot water delivery, while the water between the main hot water line and the fixture is used. However, it will still be quicker delivery and initially hotter water at all fixtures than without the pump installed. What would cause a water heater element to continue to go out?

We installed a 19 gallon water heater 3 months ago. It was working fine until last week. The element went out on Tuesday and we replaced it. Then the new element went out Thursday and we replaced it. Now tonight that newest element went out. Any thoughts as to why? Yes, It replaced another 19 gallon heater. It was installed a long time! Whirlpool says it is to small a heater for the house but not the case. The same size heater as before with the same number of people! The family had no problems like this with the first unit.

Water could be leaking internally, from the toilet tank to the toilet bowl, yet you won't see any visible water on the exterior of the toilet but the toilet keeps filling up with water, every 5 minutes or so. A quick video showing how much the meter is running backwards now that I have 1.6KW from Sharp panels and 1KW from Dupont panels working plus both freezers on the HF panels plus the solar water heater running. Once the additional 1KW of DuPont panels come on line plus I add the 360watts of HF panels and take the pumps, lights and tools out of the grid, I should be selling most of the time. I've learned that it's better to conserve than to generate. We insulated the attic last year to R48 value and we noticed the reduction in cooling requirements right away, Additionally, the shade created by the solar panels on the sunny side of the roof further helps reduce cooling costs, then the solar water heater went on line and then the rest of the solar. Little by little it all comes together and adds up tremendously. Once my three wind turbines are up and running again we will be truly off the grid permanently if we wanted to or chose to.

2006 Grand Cherokee clogged A/C Drain

2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee A/C drain clogged. You can't clear it from under the vehicle so, you have to drill a hole. This is where to drill the hole. I'm sorry for the poor lighting but, this is still the best video out there for this body style since it is the only one I could find. Good luck and be careful. Don't drill too high or you will be buying an evaporator core.

Why do my radiators have small rust holes on them?

Some of my radiators have small rust holes in them, resulting in them leaking! My boiler is roughly 5 years old, however radiators appear to be much older and were not changed at the same time as the boiler. Does anyone have any idea why this might be happening and how we could fix it? Would it be ok if we just replaced the radiators?
