If a home has no water in plumbing for over 4 yrs. can the pipes become corroded or damaged fittings?
I need to know if my home was damaged since the tenant never moved in and let the well pump break thus no water pressure to the house and water not running in the plumbing lines and drains for over 4 years. I was told that this situation can harm the plumbing. Is it possible?

If a real estate agent sells you a house with a material defect and doesn't tell you about it, are they liable?
In this situation, the owner of the house was away for a full year, leaving the home for the real estate agent to sell. The significant repair need was not listed by the owner. They may not have known about it when they wrote up the contract with the realtor to sell the house. The problem may have developed during the year the home was up for sale. But the new owners moved in and suddenly, had a very expensive bill to pay for this repair (plumbing). Since the real estate agent had access to and control over the property for the year it was up for sale, were they liable to monitor the property for developing repair needs? Are they in any way liable for selling a defective house to an unsuspecting buyer without telling them what repairs were needed? I'm looking for responses from those who have specific knowledge in this field, particularly those knowing the rules and regulations that realtors are expected to follow as a condition for holding a real estate license. This was in the state of Texas. A home inspection was done but the defect did not materialize until the toilet had been flushed several times, not just once, as the inspector had done. This was not my purchase or sale. It happened to a business associate / friend.

Who can give me advice on pvc plumbing for a koi fish pond?
I got the idea of it as far as couplings go and the primer and cement glue. But I don't know what check valves are or where to put them on the piping or what other fittings there are and what there function is. Also with my submersible pump, I am guessing the power cord can go directly in the water lin the water or does it need like conduit piping, if you can't tell this is my first pond.
BROKEN DELTA FAUCET - INDEPENDENCE KENTUCKY - DUNBAR PLUMBING - NORTHERN KENTUCKY PLUMBERS
dunbarplumbingforums.com - Here is short documentary of a shower valve that was broken off in the wall by a customer trying to remove the cartridge inside the faucet. When the cartridge broke apart and the pieces left inside the assembly refused to pull out, the weak point of the valve, which is the 3 copper tubes that connect the valve's housing to the brass cross becomes brittle and breaks the water tight connection. The valve then has to be replaced in order to bring functionality back to the fixture. At Dunbar Plumbing we are called out to replace shower valves in this manner. We are able to replace the shower valve without creating a larger opening and no requirement for an access panel or remodel plate. We pride ourselves in being only one of a handful of plumbers in the Northern Kentucky Area that is able to task this job without showing the end result of this mistake. Call us today at 859-359-4833 for more information and to schedule your faucet replacement today.
What is a good name for a 24 hour plumbing and heating business?
I have to do a business plan for my business class and I'm stuck on a name..
Question about plumbing?
My waste drain line is clogged and needs to be cleaned out. I have 3 plugs I can remove to enter the system and clean it, but none are too convenient. My plan is to add a clean out about 3 feed from where the line leaves the house, I believe the blockage is tree roots in this area. Here is the problem: I am not too familiar with the different plumbing fittings. The pipe exiting the crawl space underneath the foundation of the house is 3 inch ABS. I dug a hole 3 feet from outside the foundation and found the waste line was now steel or cast iron. It measures 3 3/8 inches o.d. as best as I can determine. I would like to cut this line and add what I think is called a two way clean out. I found one made of abs at a local hardware store, it is a slip to slip fitting. Is it ok to bury abs? What is the fitting called I would need to connect the abs clean out to the steel line? I think the steel pipe is called no hub. Do you have a better plan? Thanks

Advice for finding someone to repair a plumbing problem?
We have recently noticed water coming up between linoleum sections in the hall bathroom, and we're thinking that the pipes under the toilet or under the bathtub are old and leaking. (it's an older house, built in the 50's). I have also cleaned a bit of mold from around the baseboard, so I think that the leak may have been present for a while. I'm not really sure how bad it is. The water leak needs to be repaired pretty soon so that we don't experience more mold growth or other structural damage. What type of professional should we call - a plumber or a general contractor? We don't need to re-do the entire bathroom - just repair the water leak. (although it would be nice to replace the floor, too!) This is our first house, and our first maintenance problem that we don't know how to fix on our own. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks!
What Massachusetts plumbing work does not require a permit/license?
To make a long story short, I'm a 20 yr old apprentice plumber with 3/5 years of my training complete. Saving to buy a house. I want to open a side business for extra cash flow after work and want to know my legal limitations. From what I understand fixture repair and pipe leak repair under 20ft and drain clearing fit my bill. Please don't comment with negative stuff, I already do sidework and I do a lot of the plumbing for my job so I understand code and why code is as such and abide by it whether we pull the permit or not
How do you put in an access panel in the wall, to gain access to a valve?

Thanks

Plumbing How-To: Buy Plumbing Supplies
Learn how to buy plumbing supplies in this plumbing repair video. Expert: Tim Flynn Video transcript: I'm Tim Flynn and I'm the owner of Winters Plumbing and Heating in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Winters Company offers plumbing, heating, cooling. If you need service today; we're the business to call. My website is wintershomeservices.com. I'll be talking to you today about plumbing. Buy plumbing supplies, you want to be careful about what you want to buy. You want to either, go and bring the part with you to the supplier, or take a digital photo with your smartphone or your digital camera, bring that with you. Put a tape measure in the photo for reference. If you were going to by a toilet, for example, you may want to lay your tape measure down on the floor, take a photo of it so that you can see the distance between the wall and to the bolts, they're very important. I don't think you want to watch out for us, I like to support local business. So local plumbing suppliers always tend to cater to the plumber first because they're there every day, so if you're going to go out and buy plumbing supplies, I wouldn't go out first thing in the morning at like, 8-10. I'd go out, you know, 10-12, after the plumbers have come in and gone and then you can work with the people behind the counter who usually are very knowledgeable. Everybody is going to go on a Saturday, which is not the best day of the week to go and buy plumbing supplies because everybody's going to buy them. If you ...

Which is a better paying job Plumbing or a job like chemical engineering? And which one benefits me more?
I'm 27yrs old and have been working straight out of highschool for a while and have been thinking of going back to school. If I do go I'm interested in chemical engineering or maybe biotechnologist as one of the programs I may choose. The problem is I'm also a little light on cash and feel that maybe a trade in plumbing might not be so bad. I'm having a difficult time in choosing which path I wanna take. On one hand I really like science and i'm excited about the future of stemcells, the human genome, environmental jobs and the possibilities in alternative energy and different fuels. For me it seems like there is a lot going on in science right now but the problem is schooling is very long and I don't think I can work and concentrate on the heavy burden of school especially in these challenging subjects. And also i'm 27 and not getting any younger and by the time i graduate i'll be 31yrs before i really start a job. My other option is plumbing I hear that it pays well, they pay you to become an apprentice on the job and go to school at the same time which is okay because i would be getting paid. And i would be getting paid right away and would'nt have to wait a full 4-6 years before i graduate from college with a load of debt. In plumbing there are many ways you can branch off and do something different like pipe fitting. and in chemical engineering and biotechnology there are lots of different career paths to take as well. which should I choose? I like science but my age plays a factor in my hesitation. what do you think?

This is actually part one of two. In this video, I show how to install an access door on the return side of an air handler. In part two, I will clean the dirty evaporator coil that you see in this video. I had to speed up some of the sections in this video to make it all fit. Sorry about that. The guy in my intro that wears the pink shirt and wig is edbassmaster. You can check him out at: www.youtube.com The music was played and composed by Champagne Millionaire. You can check him out at: profile.myspace.com Attention: Do not try any of what you see in this video at home. It takes at least two years of HVACR schooling to become qualified to learn in the field how to work on heating and air conditioning equipment. Then it takes another three years of apprenticeship training to become competent enough to safely work on heating and air conditioning equipment.
Do I have legal recourse against the party that sold me a home 4 yrs ago without disclosing faulty plumbing?
The seller was a real estate broker, and I had no agent representing me - so I believe his fiduciary responsibility was higher than it would be otherwise. After discovering a slab leak a couple of weeks ago, I found out that the seller had been included in a class action lawsuit against the manufacturer of the faulty polybutylene plumbing pipes. Because of the case settlement, he could have replaced the pipes at the manufacturer's cost, but he did not. Years later, I was sold the property and the pipe situation was not disclosed to me. My understanding is that real estate transactions in California require full disclosure, and that a lack of disclosure could result in the seller's liability to the buyer. Do I have a case to sue the seller for the $6000 cost of replacing the pipes? Apparently, the whole neighborhood knew about the pipes. The same plumber fixed most of the other houses on the street. Also, I did pay to have a good inspection done, but the inspector did not note the pipes - and couldn't have - because the faulty pipes were under the foundation slab. The pipe manufacturer, Qest, acknowledged that it's product would consistently fail at the joints, and was required in a class action settlement to replace upon request of the homeowners all pipes up to 17 years after installation, which in the case of my home ended in 2000 (home was built in 1983). I bought the house in 2003. I thought there might be recourse against the seller, who I'm sure intentionally made a misrepresentation, specifically checking off on required disclosures that to his knowledge there was no problem with the plumbing.
