Bathroom shower needs replacing.Have got conflicting advice re plumbing.One source said attach shower to mains

Another said that gives too much power and could damage shower.Take water as at present from attic tank even if power was not as strong and that some shower units were unsuitable for mains pressure.Advice welcome.
