dismissed from employment?

my friend of 19yrs started a apprentice plumbing job did a disclosure form 7 weeks into it came back she had 1 conviction from 2yrs ago called into a meeting then was dismissed for it but employer said he would put it down to not working out we are now appealing against the decision also she did put down on the application she had a conviction
