When I was finishing my basement, I came across a very common problem most homeowners have. My sump pump was smack right in the middle of the livable space I wanted to finish. Rather than put an ugly looking door on it to cover it up, I decided to be creative and hide it completely within a bookcase. I simply boxed in the sump pump and framed out an opening. I then created a bookcase out of MDF and hung it via a piano hinge on a supported 2x4. The bookcase is held in place with magnets. This is a neat little hack that I hope will inspire other people!
