Can I install a shower with an oval shaped tub?

I am going to gut my bathroom and have been looking over new bath tubs. I like the look of the oval drop in type of tubs, but I am unsure if an integral shower as in a traditional bath will work with this type of tub. My instinct is that water will never drain properly, and disaster will follow. I do not have space for a separate shower area, so the tub/shower need to stay as one unit. thanks!
