Kinetico not automatically regenerating

Hi Guys,
I have a Kinetico softener -50 twin cylinder installed in 1997. The unit has worked perfectly up to now but is not automatically regenerating. The unit works when I manually turn the philips head screw, I see the bottom pawl engage in the gear in & out when it is finished...
