My husband was sitting on toilet seat and it broke. Landlord is saying he is going to call the police?

My husband was sitting on toilet seat and it broke. Is that really my husband fault? Landlord left me a voice MSG saying he broke the toilet seat and he is going to call the police and going to court for it. We are living in 1 small bedroom with no kitchen and shares bathroom with other people that living in the house. There are 8 people living in the house. Landlord is renting each bedroom. My husband is not a fat guy.
