First time homeowner, so sorry if this is a stupid question. We want to hire a plumber to install lines for a new bathroom we are adding. I have heard about taking bids instead of estimates, but is that just for contractors or will plumbers do that too? Also...I see a lot of posts on CL for plumbers whose hours were cut and they are looking for side jobs. If they have a license and insurance is it okay to hire them? Or better to just go with a company?
