do the newer low-flow toilets need updated plumbing?

I'm buying a home that has a full bath in lower level and I'd like to update that bathroom. It has an older toilet that I'd like to replace with a new low-flow toilet and I'm wondering if I have to update the plumbing/pipes as well to handle the additional pressure of the low-flow toilet.
