I don't have the typical water hammer. This noise happens when there is no water running through the pipes. I've checked the meter, no water running. I removed the anode rod from the hot water heater, as someone suggested this may be the problem, but it didn't help. All of the copper is tight, nothing lose. Any suggestions? Thanks! Thanks for responding, its regular city water, the regulator is at the correct pressure. Wow. Thanks so much for your great answer. Several years ago the water dept came to check it out. Of course they said it was not their problem, but my water dept. has a bad reputation. So, my questions is, why don't I put a water hammer pipe near the entrance to my house. Would that absorb the hammer noise? Thanks!
