Is the invention of plumbing and the toilet science?

Understanding science can aid the process of invention, but, is calling something like toilets, plumbing, TV's, and airplanes science? My cousins say that there is a thin line between the two and that the words can be used interchangeably. I say the line is not that thin. Taking your understanding of gravity and water pressure to invent the toilet doesn't make the toilet science. Why can't anyone answer my question? Is there a thin line between science and technology? Or are they more defined? If you say the toilet and plumbing are more science, tell me how.
