Andrew Tadie, associate professor of English at Seattle University, was recently visited by a former student, Mike Mullen. Back in the 1980s, Mullen was an honors student in Tadie's class with a future of limitless possibility spread out before him. Today, Mullen splits his time scurrying across campus from one clogged drain to another as mechanical shop lead in Facilities Services while also serving as SU's "Mayor." Mullen recently caught up with Tadie to pose a series of compelling questions ranging from the university's return to Division I athletics, to faculty and staff compensation, to the apparent dearth of humor on SU's campus.
