The plumbing was worked on today (well water). The water has a chemical smell and taste.?

I'm not drinking the water. The plumber is closed for the day and poison control can't tell me if it's safe or not. How much water do I need to run through the pipes to get to safe water? Cut the pipe, added a T so we could run water to the workshop. We're in the process of getting the plumbing installed inside the workshop.
