When you replace a bath tub, how do you get to the underside of it to connect it to the drain?

I have a bath tub/shower stall I need to replace. I have no way to get underneath it, because it's in a basement bathroom with a concrete floor. How do I connect the drain pipe from the tub to the drain pipe in the floor, and insure it's sealed(water tight).
