I just moved into a brand new apartment (building was just built). We pay for our own gas heated water, water heater is in a closet. It's called the A. O. Smith Powershot portable water heater. Model # GPSH 40 200. Made by A. O. Smith Water Products Co, in South Carolina. They don't exactly have the best or clearest site. My question, questions, are these: This unit is brand new, the whole a[artment/building is new. Everytime, I mean EVERY time I turn on the hot water- whether just for a second or to take a nice long hot shower (I have it set on the 2nd hottest setting), the water heater fires right up and starts heating, goung into a full cycle. Doesnt seem to matter if I've been gobe 5 minutes or 5 hours, same thing. You would think there is always some residual hot water left in the tank. It is gas powered, electric ignited. since I want to save money (besides wanting to know WHY this hapens) can I safely turn the heater on and off between uses- will this work? Part 1, Part 2 in a separate question Please, no jokes, "u oughtaknow Oracle"...
