How do you get a toilet paper holder out of the toilet?

My butthead of a hubby flushed the toilet while he was changing the toilet paper and dropped the toilet paper holder in the toilet and now its stuck, how do i get it out without calling the plumber??? Help!! ha ha ha always a smartass somewhere. I tried, he tried, i even had the kids stick their hands down there, our hands are too big. ITS stuck in the curve. i think its stuck in the top part of the toilet, the curve. thinking about running to walmart for a metal coat hanger.
