I have old gate valves fore and aft of the water meter. Neither of which give a 100% shutoff, always a little trickle which makes it very frustrating to do any plumbing work on the bottom floor of the house and I hate to even touch them for fear something will break one of these days....

Did a camera inspection from an outside cleanout going under the house. About 6-7 feet under the house found thick sewage. Some one ran their cable through and nothing changed. They had a drum machine.
